„While normally the most forward of Chapoutier's selections parcellaires from Hermitage, the full-bodied 2020 Ermitage les Greffieux looks to be showing a bit more structure, while still remaining, silky, fine and elegant. Notes of crushed stone, fresh mint, violets and purple raspberries appear on the nose, while the finish is long and harmonious, with an ample dusting of ripe tannins.“

„Incredibly dense nose of elderberries with some raw meat and smoke. At least as massively structured as it is concentrated, this is almost too much to take at this early stage in its development, but the tannins are already beautifully integrated and all it needs is a couple of years in bottle to calm down a little. Very firm, stony finish that has so much energy. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Best after 2024.“

Giving up notes of chocolaty dark fruits, truffle, woodsmoke, and earth, it’s a classic, mouth-filling expression of this vineyard, which is located just below the Le Méal and consists of deep, almost pebbly soils. All Syrah aging in a mix of barrels and demi-muids, it’s going to be a ripe, sexy, yet balanced Hermitage that will offer pleasure with just short-term cellaring.“
