  • Beschreibung

Robert Parker Wine Advocate-Bewertung Jahrgang 2017:

2017 Weingut Robert Weil • Kiedricher Riesling Trocken
Interim End of November 2018, The Wine Advocate, 30th Nov 2018
    Rating: 92
    Drink Date: 2022 - 2040

The 2017 Kiedricher Riesling Trocken is very clear, fine and fresh on the concentrated and well-defined nose. Sourced from younger vines from Erste and Grosse Lagen plus Wasseross, this is a highly elegant, finessed and mouth-filling Riesling with gorgeous balance and juicy fruit. This amazing Riesling needs to be enjoyed today and over the next 20 years. A Must Buy!

Wilhelm Weil is aways happy with the vintage he is presenting, but so far he never used a superlative like this one: "2017 is the best vintage I have produced here in 30 years." The early winger was very cold and brought some great Eisweine from the 2016 harvest, but then it was far too warm, which caused an early bud break, 14 days earlier than normal. The late-April frost didn't do any damage in Weil's vineyards, and the flowering was two weeks earlier than normal and went through perfectly. The dramatic hailstorms on July 31 and August 1 caused big losses especially in the central part of the Rheingau, but Robert Weil lost only 15% of the crop. Véraison started two weeks earlier than normal, and the grapes reached prefect ripeness at the end of September. The grapes for the dry wines were harvested in perfect conditions and without any botrytis around the middle of October, and these were followed by the grapes for the predicates that were crowned by beautiful selections for Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese by the end of the month. For the 29th time in a row, all of the predicates (except for Eiswein) were produced at Robert Weil. The 2017s are very high in extracts (even the estate Riesling has 24 grams per liter of dry extract) and reveal good, clean intensity and proper fruit. Wilhelm Weil compares 2017 with 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2008. Since the 2012 harvest, all of Weil's premier and grand crus have been vinified in large oak (1,200, 2,400 and 4,800 liters). In fact, the 2017 is a great vintage for Robert Weil, and not a single wine falls behind the highest expectations.

2015 Robert Weil • Kiedricher Riesling Trocken

    robertparker.com #227 - Oct 2016
    Rating: 90 points

The bright citrus-colored 2015 Kiedrich Riesling Trocken has a very concentrated, but again reductive and aromatically discreet nose, with a good mineral background. Medium to full-bodied, piquant and salty on the palate, this is a dense and pretty expressive Riesling with a ripe and concentrated, almost lush fruit texture. The finish is compact and well structured, indicating an excellent ageing potential.Robert Parker Wine Advocate-Bewertung Jahrgang 2017:
